Why are you running for office?
As a proud product of DCPS, I have the experience, skills and the passion to do the work necessary to reverse the negative trends and help ALL DCPS students excel at career, college and life readiness!
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
I consider Barack Obama as my political role model because: he came from nothing, worked extremely hard, cared enough about the welfare of others to enter politics and maintained his dignity in all situations.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
I don’t have a favorite book about politics but I am open to suggestions.

What will be your top priority on the Board of Education?
What is the biggest issue facing your county schools?
What is your position on the Kirwan Commission recommendations?
I support the recommendations of the Kirwan Commission.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland schools?
I believe the three biggest issues facing MD schools are: lack of student achievement, staff development and retention, and equitable funding.
Have you read your county schools curriculum? If so, which parts do you like and which parts do you dislike?
I like the addition of STEM programs in our county such as Project Lead the Way. I’d like to see us get better at offering DCTC programs to more students.
What is your position on school spending?
I support school spending as long as the spending is tied to quantifiable benefits for students.
Please identify the three areas which you believe should be prioritized when it comes to school funding
What is your position on teacher tenure?
I think it can be a good tool for recruiting and retaining teachers but I also believe that incompetent teachers should not be protected by tenure.
What is your position on standardized testing?
If students are learning, standardized testing should not be an issue.
What is your position on classroom size?
Smaller class sizes are critical for maximized learning.
Do you believe the Board of Education should have taxation authority?
As a parent, I do not believe that the Board of Education should have taxation authority but I am open to discussion.
