Bloomberg’s Billions Trying to Sway Legislators Before Primary
Michael Bloomberg may be sitting in an advantageous position when it comes to the Democratic Presidential Primary, but it appears he is leaving nothing to chance.
Bloomberg’s anti-gun front group Everytown for Gun Safety is inviting the members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee out for dinner on February 26th:
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that Judicial Proceedings is chaired by up and coming Senator William Smith and includes left-wing progressive darling Jill Carter, right?
Of course, Bloomberg’s billions may also be trying to sway members of JPR to vote for the draconian gun restrictions being put championed by Everytown and other Bloomberg front groups like Moms Demand Action. You know, ” Give us your 2A rights and we give you a steak” or something like that. Though I’m not sure how far they think they’re going to get with 2nd Amendment champions like Mike Hough and Justin Ready.
Let’s be honest: dinners like this are part and parcel of the Annapolis experience and a way that special interests and astroturfed groups like Everytown get to wine and dine legislators to influence their vote on policy matters, usually in a way that is disadvantageous to Maryland voters. It just so happens that in this case the group is being funded by the personal billions of one of the Democratic frontrunners for President.
