Why are you running for office?
I am running for re-election to this office as I truly love my job and Garrett County. The State’s Attorney plays a primary role in protecting the rights, as well as the safety and security, of all Garrett Countians. With my knowledge and experience, I am uniquely qualified to continue this work.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
No answer
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
No answer
What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
My top priority will remain maintaining the safety and security of all Garrett County citizens every day.
What is the biggest issue facing your county?
The scourge of drug addiction and the crimes committed by the addicted affect every Garrett Countian. It is most important that I continue to work with law enforcement within the criminal justice system to prosecute criminals to protect the community. At the same time, I will continue to lend my name and voice to the efforts of the professionals who work every day in education, prevention and treatment.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
The State’s Attorney plays no role in the County’s taxing and budgeting decisions. I have successfully managed my office within the approved budget constraints each year I’ve held office.
What is your position on a county tax cap?
The State’s Attorney has no jurisdiction over this issue.
What is your position on land use issues?
The State’s Attorney has no jurisdiction over this issue.
What is your position on public safety?
It is my opinion that public safety should be our community’s top priority. All of our efforts to educate young people for jobs and careers and all of our efforts in economic development to attract businesses and new residents will be for naught if Garrett Countians don’t feel safe and secure at home, school, work and in the community.
