Systems Engineering and Mission Operations in support of NASA and DoD space programs. Currently retired but actively looking for new opportunities.
Served on Central Committee 2005 – present. Secretary 2013 – present. Participated in various local, state, and national campaigns. Ran as a candidate for alternate delegate (Cruz) in 2016.
Why are you running for office?
To help strengthen the Republican Party and End One Party Rule in Montgomery County
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
JFK (Leadership in the Cold War and in opening the New Frontier of Space), Reagan (Leadership in concluding the Cold War and in protecting Life, Liberty and economic freedom), Congress-members Henry Hyde and Chris Smith (persistent and courageous leadership on protecting human life)
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Can’t think of a single preeminent book, but writings by Newt Gingrich and writers for National Review, First Things, The Federalist, and other sources are influential.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
Organize campaign activities down to the precinct level, recruit candidates, reach out to the public, and raise funds to support these other activities.
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
Overcoming mistaken impressions and sometimes just lack of information about the Party and its candidates among the voters. Also, increasing turnout of favorable voters.
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
Same as above. Need to inform voters who support Gov. Hogan that he needs increased support in the Assembly.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
These are the defining human rights issues of our time. Oppose abortion and assisted suicide. Vigorous protection by law of human lives at every stage and condition, combined with compassionate support for those dealing with unplanned pregnancies and with painful and/or terminal illnesses.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Lower and simplified taxes and streamlined regulations. Use gov’t/ commercial partnerships where appropriate to leverage gov’t spending for infrastructure, technology and resource development, etc.
What is your position on gun rights?
Support 2nd Amendment. People have a right to defend themselves. Support education on gun safety. Support limits on those with criminal records or mental health issues.
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party primaries should be open to independent voters?
Do you believe that the state party and the county parties should be allowed to endorse in primary elections?
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party auxiliary organizations should have a vote on the Maryland Republican Party executive committee?
Would you support limiting the terms of Maryland Republican Party officers to eight consecutive years in the same office?
