Appointed to the Governor’s Emergency Management Advisory Counsel (GEMAC) which I am now serving a second term, Appointed to the St. Mary’s County Ethics Commission (presently chair). Why are you running for office?
To continue to build the St. Mary’s County Republican base
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
St. Mary’s Co. RCC Chair Tom Haynie. He is a good man, and honest man, and a fantastic teacher. He helped me during my early years on the St. Mary’s RCC, and once I became chair he still was my mentor, and though now out of politics he still is my moral compass.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
The Rights of Man. It helps to clarify for me the role of government, how faith and values shape law, and the source of our rights as humans.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
To build party is my view of a central committee primary mission. This includes voter registration and marketing the GOP name brand. Help identify Republicans to fill local boards and committees.
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
Learning how to deal with contested primaries.
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
Division within the party, good candidates for public office, money
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
Against abortion and assisted suicide
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Live within our means. Grow the tax base but try to maintain tax rates.
What is your position on gun rights?
We have an unquestionable right to own firearms.
