Why are you running for office?
My elected representative no longer represents Republicans within Baltimore County. It’s time to hold democrats and weak politicians on the county council accountable. For example, my opponent’s bi-partisan and independent decision to kill a common sense public safety bill (County bill 32-17). My opponent’s decision to oppose Governor Hogan’s Rain Tax Repeal at the county level (County bill 09-15). Accept $4 million in federal section 8 funding and expand the program (County bill 39-12) My opponent voting to give himself an $8000.00 pay raise while Baltimore County residents struggled under Obama and O’malley’s oppressive taxes and burdensome regulations.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
My political role model is Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan understood government should be limited and restricted. A limited government allows opportunity and liberty for all Americans. A limited government allows personal freedom and free markets to thrive. Ronald Reagan understood taxation and heavy handed regulations were, and still are an impediment to entrepreneurship and the financial well being of everyday Americans. Ronald Reagan understood the answers or solutions aren’t easy, they’re simple. But we must have the audacity and wherewithal to execute on those simple answers. If elected, expect me to just say no to new taxes and regulations.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
I’ll pick three. The Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater, The Art of War by SunTzu, and Dedication and Leadership by Douglas Hyde.
What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
Holding democrats accountable for their policies, and stopping them from expanding the size and scope of government. My opponent has sided with democrats on important republican issues on too many occasions. It’s time to practice conservative politics at the local level. My opponent is an unapologetic progressive, bi-partisan and independent of common sense. I will not placate.
What is the biggest issue facing your county?
1. Illegal Immigration 2. Property taxes 3. School overcrowding 4. Section 8 expansion 5. Pay to play cronyism within our local government.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
I fully support cutting taxes and spending cuts. Start at the highest levels of government and lead by example.
What is your position on a county tax cap?
I would rather reduce taxes and cut spending. I believe we should institute TABOR.
What is your position on land use issues?
I’m a firm believer in private property rights.
What is your position on public safety?
I fully support common sense public safety issues. Enact 287-G. 287-G is a good policy that’s working in Frederick and Harford Counties.
