Why are you running for office?
I want to make QAC more accountable to the average citizen through transparency, ease of participation in government, listening to the concerns of citizens. A few citizens with many resources should not come before many citizens with fewer resources.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Governor Hogan – the way he has moved Maryland forward – bridging partisanship and bringing all parties to the table and making decisions based on what he thinks is the best for the most Marylanders.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
The Bible – all the wisdom in the world is there. Topics such as reconciliation (non-partisanship), “be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger”, etc. Great advice all around.
What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
There are a few: Maintaining a strong comp plan, local traffic issues, property and income taxes
What is the biggest issue facing your county?
What is your position on taxes and spending?
I will not vote to raise taxes. We should be wise with what we have and not mis-spend. We should negotiate better prices (for land acquisition, contracts, etc.) recognizing we are to be good stewards of what we have been given.
What is your position on a county tax cap?
There are pros and cons to a tax cap – before considering one, I would want to lay out the possible results and hear from our citizens
What is your position on land use issues?
What is your position on public safety?
