Why are you running for office?
Serve the county by improving the image and effectiveness of the Sheriff’s Office

Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Anyone who puts people over politics, who looks at a bill for what’s in it and not who brought it, people of REAL integrity.

What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Three Days in January. A book about President Eisenhower. Excellent read, much I didn’t know and was able to learn about this great public servant.

What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
Obtain the needed resources to improve and expand the effectiveness of the Sheriff’s Office through restoring and building relationships with local, state and federal governments.

What is the biggest issue facing your county?
People’s comfort level with their personal safety and their ability to earn good living. This is a wonderful county but not the cheapest place to live. Jobs and safety really tie together.

What is your position on taxes and spending?
Taxes in this state are too high. As soon as people retire, they leave the area for FL, DE, N, Etc. We punish businesses for being successful and therefore they don’t stay here and those that do, don’t expand and hire more people (which would eventually reduce spending because more people working, means less who need aide, it’s simple math !!)

What is your position on a county tax cap?
Anything that helps keep taxes under control should be a good thing for the county.

What is your position on land use issues?
I am NOT in favor of turning the entire county in to a park, but out of control development like what has happened to Rt 3 in Crofton, is a disgrace. CLEARLY we can and must do better. Thoughtful controlled development that provides benefits to our citizens, while adding to the tax base and not trashing the environment, is a good thing and must be continued and modified when and where needed.

What is your position on public safety?
Critically important. School safety, peoples view of their overall safety effects how they live. Kids who don’t feel safe, don’t learn. People who won’t leave their homes to play and become part of the commerce, and we all suffer. This MUST improve.
