Why are you running for office?
It is important to remind everyone of the published purposes and goals of our County Republican Committee. These high purposes and goals are the foundation of our Central Committee and I fully intend to uphold them when representing your vote.
This list is Article II of the Committee Constitution and By-Laws:
1. To be part of the governing body [and one] of the official spokesmen for the Republican Party in Carroll County to cooperate with the Republican State Central Committee, … and with the Republican National Committee;
2. To establish and operate an effective Republican political organization for Carroll County;
3. TO seek to register new voters as Republicans and to encourage those already registered otherwise to change their registration to the Republican Party;
4. TO assist in securing the election of all duly nominated candidates;
5. To fill vacancies in nominations for public office;
6. TO coordinate and assist Republican activities in Carroll County;
7. TO engage in fund raising to support the activities enumerated above;
8. TO promote the principles, objectives and platform of the Republican Party;
9. TO engage in such other activities as are reasonably necessary and proper to accomplish the foregoing purposes.”
I am committed to purposes respecting Americanism. Our country, state and wonderful Carroll County are being diminished by those who do not appreciate the principles that have made America Excel and benefit the rest of our world.
In some places people are being influenced to consider America less than a positive presence – Republicanism rejects less than positive. Americanism strives to produce a shining example for the rest of the world to enjoin – and We are willing to help.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
There is no single person who is my “political” role model. Matters of principle must rise above “political” manipulation. I have been thankful to observe statements and actions of many people, both past and present, who understand America’s principles concerning the role of government.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
At this time, this book is a stimulating perspective to reflect upon the consequences of “political” deceptions, especially related to today’s arena: Theodore Roosevelt, the Progressive Party, and the Transformation of American Democracy by Sydney M. Milkis.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
“ … to be part of the governing body of the official spokesmen for the Republican Party in Carroll County, Maryland; to cooperate with the Republican State Central Committee for the State of Maryland and with the Republican National Committee; to [help] establish and operate an effective Republican political organization for Carroll County; to seek to register new voters as Republicans and to encourage those already registered otherwise to change their registration to the Republican Party; to assist in securing the election of all duly nominated candidates; to fill vacancies in, and in nominations for, public office; to coordinate and assist Republican activities in Carroll County; to engage in fund raising to support the activities enumerated above; to promote the principles, objectives and platform of the Republican Party; and to engage in such other activities as are reasonably necessary and proper to accomplish the foregoing purposes.” Constitution and by Laws of the Republican Central Committee of Carroll County, Article II – Purposes
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
Sadly these two serious issues inflict pain upon our civil society in many ways. Adding insult to injury, politicians use these issues for political purposes. Legislating social issues empowers government to interfere with social issues which should not be in their prevue. A moral society would not condone murder in the womb or assisted suicide. After so many years of “politicizing” these issues our society has come to relinquish these issues to government control – a “political” process to gain office upon the troublesome decay of morality. We should be asking ourselves why society doesn’t step back and examine the causes which exist that create these destructive practices.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Less of both is best.
What is your position on gun rights?
By swearing an Oath of Office to defend America’s Charters of Freedom this action commits our government to protect our inalienable rights.
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party primaries should be open to independent voters?
Do you believe that the state party and the county parties should be allowed to endorse in primary elections?
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party auxiliary organizations should have a vote on the Maryland Republican Party executive committee?
Would you support limiting the terms of Maryland Republican Party officers to eight consecutive years in the same office?
