Why are you running for office?
To continue to change Maryland and keep moving Maryland forward & to represent the 6th Legislative District. Continue reducing crime, address long term solutions for the opioid epidemic, stop over taxation – (stop wasteful Government Spending), strengthen our communities, create good jobs, make it a safer place to live.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
We have had many great leaders that have shown their strong leadership and commitment to this country and I find Ronald Reagan as one of my many role models. The one thing that I admire most from strong leadership is that they follow through with campaign commitments. “PROMISES MADE – PROMISES KEPT”
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
I have many but, Rich State, Poor State is one that I rely on. It clearly outlines how over taxation affects the economic pro-growth.
What will be your top priority in the General Assembly?
Crime, Opioid Addiction, Stop Mandated Spending and Redistricting
What is the biggest issue facing your district?
Crime, Opioid Addiction, Drug Use, Safer Schools, Good Paying Jobs, Homeownership & Revitalization and to Elect a new Baltimore County Executive that will address the problems that we have in Eastern Baltimore County and will not treat the East Side of Baltimore County like a “Redheaded Step Child”.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland?
Crime, Opioid Addiction, Gerrymandering
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
I am pro-life.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Stop wasteful Government spending, repeal mandated spending & continue to reduce taxes and fees.
What is your position on gun rights?
I strongly support the 2nd Amendment. I am very proud of my A rating from the NRA. We also need common sense legislation that removes guns from violent criminals, deranged people and the mentally ill who threatens the safety of others.
What is your position on education?
It is our mandate to provide a safe learning environment and to ensure that every child reach their highest potential in life. I am proud of the hard work of the Governor, many people and myself to pass the Omnibus legislation, Maryland Safe to Learn Act of 2018. Several of my bills from 2016 & 2017 were included in this bill. In 2016, I laid the ground work for this legislation.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?
I fully support the legalization of medical marijuana. My personal opinion is that I do not support legalization of recreational marijuana use, but if legalized I would propose legislation that the tax revenue should be used to teach drug education and help pay for drug treatment programs.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol?
It should closely reviewed and reformed.
Legislators can receive $101 per day for lodging and $47 per day for meals during the 90-day General Assembly session. If elected, do you plan to accept these benefits? Why or why not?
I do not receive lodging, I commute everyday unless there is extreme circumstances or weather (saving the tax payers money ). I do accept the per diem day for meals.
There is a culture of depravity and sexual harassment prevalent in the Maryland General Assembly. As a legislator, how will you work to end this culture of depravity and to ensure that those who commit these acts are removed from the General Assembly?
I strongly agree, as State Legislators and Law Makers we must hold ourselves to the highest standards.
