Why are you running for office?
I am running for Central Committee because I want to serve the Republican voters of Harford County. I want to improve the Republican political infrastructure in Harford County to give voters the widest and most qualified selection of candidates in the Republican Primary. More importantly, I want to ensure that Harford County remains a red county.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
The late MD State Sen. Wayne Norman is my political role model. He showed me what it meant to be a good human being and a good Republican. He truly cared about people and was the embodiment of a great public servant. When I first entered local politics he showed me the ropes and took me under his wing. He encouraged and inspired me to run for Central Committee and if I am elected, I hope to carry on his message of “Common Sense Conservatism.”
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich Hayek is my favorite book on politics and policy. Hayek masterfully illustrates how free societies can easily become totalitarian by over expanding government into economic life. The book helped solidify my Republican values and understand the human deprivation caused by Socialism.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
I view the Central Committee as the vehicle for serving the Republican party in Harford County. It is meant to support Republican candidates running for office, assist in fundraising efforts, and increase voter registration.
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
The biggest area of improvement for the Harford County GOP is youth and minority turnout for Republican candidates. If elected to the Central Committee I will lead a minority and youth outreach program with the goal of increasing the number of registered Republican voters.
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
1. Promoting a Republican Educational Policy to Fix Baltimore Public Schools
2. Fighting Attempts By Maryland Democrats to Turn Maryland Into a Sanctuary State
3. Eliminating Corruption In Maryland State Level Politics
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
Abortion: I am pro-life.
Assisted Suicide: I am against assisted suicide.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
I believe that the best dollar spent is the one spent by the citizen, not by the government. Therefore, taxes should be kept to a minimum and tax cuts should be done when it is fiscally sound. I believe government spending should be constrained so that it is forced to prioritize spending on essential government functions (i.e. military, education, basic social safety net, etc.).
What is your position on gun rights?
There is no debate about the second amendment. It is a God given right to protect oneself and the second amendment of the Constitution ensures this. A safe society requires that good and responsible people are allowed to own firearms to protect themselves and their loved ones from those looking to do harm. I am a constitutional Republican and we must uphold the 2nd amendment as strongly as we uphold all other constitutional rights.
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party primaries should be open to independent voters?
Do you believe that the state party and the county parties should be allowed to endorse in primary elections?
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party auxiliary organizations should have a vote on the Maryland Republican Party executive committee?
Would you support limiting the terms of Maryland Republican Party officers to eight consecutive years in the same office?
