Why are you running for office?
To provide leadership in Congress to get things done, primarily improving the healthcare system, jobs/economy, and pay equality.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
I’m not overly impressed with any of the current politicians. I do like Rand Paul and Jim Brochin, but I do not have any political role model.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
I’m not a typical politician; so my favorite is The Odyssey. Why, because it’s an interesting piece of literature.
What will be your top priority in Congress?
What is the biggest issue facing your district?
What are the three biggest issues facing our country?
1. Healthcare/prescription costs 2. Government spending/debt 3. Living Wage (minimum wage)
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
I am socially liberal, so I have no problems with current legislation on abortion but I would support some legislation on assisted suicide, but I’m not going to sponsor any as there are more important issues.
What is your position on taxes, spending and the federal deficit?
I am fiscally conservative. We need to cut spending and eliminate the federal deficit. The tax changes that recently went into place are a good start, but the whole system needs to be overhauled. I prefer flat tax on business revenue.
What is your position on gun rights?
I am a gun owner and a designated collector, however, I do want to see legislation in place for a federal firearms license. This license would facilitate transfers, purchases, etc. while reducing the possibility of those wishing to do harm being able to obtain firearms.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?
Yes, I’m perfectly ok with that. I’m more so on hemp farming for sustainable resources though.
What is your position on trade?
Trade is important and we need to revise all trade agreements to ensure countries do not unfairly subsidize their goods, countries adhere to work place safety, wages, work conditions, etc. We need to ensure countries do not PEG their currencies and allow for trade imbalances to naturally adjust based off of markets.
What is your position on foreign policy and military issues?
We need to reduce our military presence and actions in foreign countries and we need to have plans with desired outcomes prior to engaging.
Would you support the passage of the Human Life Amendment?
Would you support the passage of the Balanced Budget Amendment?
