I have been actively involved with the school system. I served on the BOE Operating Budget Review Committee (OBRC). I have testified on many issues during Board of Education hearings, including later school starting time and school redistricting. Most recently I provided suggestions to the school regarding transportation optimization. I have been attending the HCPSS Community Advisory Committee and my local PTA meetings.

Why are you running for office?
I want to ensure HCPSS to provide quality education to our students.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
George Washington. He led and created a new republic.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?

What will be your top priority on the Board of Education?
1) Fix HCPSS budget deficit, 2) Increase board collaboration, 3) Provide equitable opportunities for students and motivate students to learn.
What is the biggest issue facing your county schools?
increasing school budget deficit ( approaching 50 million dollars now) due to previous superintendent and BOE board.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland schools?
1) Not enough budget for schools, 2) large student population is living in poverty 3) how to serve students in all spectrum and motivate them to succeed
Have you read your county schools curriculum? If so, which parts do you like and which parts do you dislike?
Yes, I read all of the school curriculum. I like HCPSS offers a variety of courses to meet student needs. I wish for the high schools, we can offer more paths for student to graduate.
What is your position on school spending?
For the capital spending, we need build more schools to accommodate growing student population and ease school overcrowding problem. For the operating budget, we should focus on improving teacher’s pay and benefit, incorporating new technologies and teaching philosophies, creating vocational skill training to students, improving special education and STEM and GT classes.

I support teacher tenure.

We should reduce standardized testing.
