Why are you running for office?
It is my belief that the Council could benefit from an experienced, conservative voice. District E has been my lifelong home and I am most familiar with the issues locally. I would be honored to represent the citizens of this district again as we craft the future and deal with the issues in Harford County.
The Council is, by the charter, the checks and balance for our local government.
I believe we need to make certain the charter is followed.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
Responsible Growth, Educational funding, Public Safety would all be top priorities. I believe our public officials should be bound to deliver the services our citizens need and demand in a responsible and economic fashion.
Government transparency is something each taxpayer deserves.
What is the biggest issue facing your county?
Responsible, Sensible growth, and working to find and voting to fund the agreed upon initiatives to keep our schools and children safe.
Maintaining services at the lowest cost to our citizens.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
We need to do all we can to maintain a lower tax rate while providing the necessary services. I expect our government to be “thrifty and frugal” with our tax money. Be responsible and be transparent. Most of all, be honest to the citizens.
What is your position on a county tax cap?
The Homestead Tax/Tax Cap is a necessary tool to aid citizens with a lower tax burden if applicable. I would support initiatives that make living/owning in Harford County more affordable.
What is your position on land use issues?
I agree with responsible, sensible growth. It is the council’s responsibility to map our county’s future land use plan. All factors need close scrutiny prior to granting major changes in communities. Inadequate and overcrowded roadways, school populations are only a few examples of criteria to use.
I bring 16 years council/zoning board of appeals experience and fully understand the importance of maintaining a development envelope and the need for proper planning.
What is your position on public safety?
In today’s ever-changing environment, public safety must be of paramount concern. Proper and adequate funding must occur to provide our citizens with the safety they deserve. Our local law enforcement, fire and ems need to have the proper equipment as well as the personnel to deliver this demand.
We need to work together to accomplish the common goals.
