Why are you running for office?
Public safety and Education are two core functions that need to be maintained. With crime escalating it is important to fund public safety without increasing taxes. Education needs to be funded and I believe the more educated the citizens are the less crime a community will have. Last year we were able to fund all core services and offer a tax cut to the property owners.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Ronald Reagan was a great political role model because he led American comeback. He also achieved what critics said couldn’t do.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
I actually don’t have a favorite book about politics and policy. I like to read articles like Conduit from the Maryland Association of Counties, American City and County and Red Maryland of course.
What will be your top priority in elected to this position?
My top priority is to continue to fund the core services without increasing taxes. The taxpayers in Wicomico County deserve a better quality of life without being taxed to death. Citizens living in municipalities are paying double taxes and any increase will be a serious hit to their pockets.
What is the biggest issue facing your county?
Water and Sewer is one of the biggest issues to our citizens living outside municipal boundaries. Many people living in the rural are ending up with failing septic systems and some wells have been found to have contaminants which has since been corrected.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
As a county we need to live within our means. Higher taxes means the quality of life in the county is reduced.
What is your position on a county tax cap?
The county tax cap was put in place by the voters of Wicomico County.
What is your position on land use issues?
My position on land use issues is there are too many regulations, especially from the state. One thing I support is doing away with the expensive BAT Systems. With the high taxes and mandates like the BAT Systems and the Fire Sprinklers threatening new home ownership there has been a major decrease in building construction.
What is your position on public safety?
Police/Fire/E.M.S. are core services that need to be funded. In order for our citizens to desire a better quality of life it is my obligation to fund and support public safety.
