Why are you running for office?
Parents need to know what decisions are being made easily for their children. They need to be heard.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Jennifer Abell. She really wants a balanced board and I marks decisions on what’s best for kids. I do too.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
What is your favorite book about education, and why?
Who moved My Cheese, because we are stuck in the same decisions and we need a change.
What will be your top priority on the Board of Education?
Students and Teachers. Without our biggest asset in the schools, the teachers, then how do we know what is needed for our kids? Kids come first, teachers need to be heard on what our students need.
What is the biggest issue facing your county schools?
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland schools?
Funding, large classrooms, and keeping quality teachers!
Have you read your county schools curriculum? If so, which parts do you like and which parts do you dislike?
Yes, I like the transfer to online textbooks, some nice classroom demands but what dislike is common core.
What is your position on school spending?
Schools are part of the county infrastructure. You need good schools to draw people to this county. You got to keep improving schools and adding quality teachers.
Please identify the three areas which you believe should be prioritized when it comes to school funding
Classroom Technology/Computers, STEM Programs, Teacher Pay
What is your position on teacher tenure?
You need teacher tenure to help educate newer teachers. By getting rid of teachers because they are approaching a higher salary bracket will not produce quality teachers.
What is your position on standardized testing?
Do our teachers really use these results to help educate our students? We need to pick what is useful and use. Is standardized testing being used on determination on our county funding?
What is your position on classroom size?
They are to big. Thirty kids in a classroom with one teacher is to big. Teachers cannot help the kids that need it. With 25 -30 kids, there will be kids left behind and just pushed forward.
Do you believe the Board of Education should having taxation authority?
