Why are you running for office?
Elections are tough. I want to help give Republican Candidates in my area an edge — you do this by knowing the neighborhoods, getting out and talking with the people, and establishing relationships. I am good at this.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Rand Paul — he is genuine, doesn’t get invited to the cool political parties, and a champion of our individual freedoms.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Dan Bongino’s first book — common sense ideas towards Conservatism, and an interesting read about the Secret Service.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
It is the medium to support and elect Republican candidates. It should also be an easily accessible bridge between the Party & the people as a whole.
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
I’m not sure, but I do believe that more funding for our teachers is vital — we are losing teachers to other counties at a high rate, and this is unacceptable. Much of the funding comes from the county.
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
We need to do a better job with presidential primaries – if we changed the rules a bit, we would attract more Republican candidates to our state for the presidential primaries. We need to unite to protect our gun rights. Finally, we need to continue to lower tolls and fees — we are on the right track, but not enough is being done in this area.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
I am against abortion and against assisted-suicide. Pro-Life.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Low taxes and low spending. Republicans should not create new taxes, as a majority of our county council did with the Hotel Tax. They should also not vote themselves pay raises, as a majority of our county council did in the recent past.
What is your position on gun rights?
I am pro-gun. It is our Constitutional right to own guns.
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party primaries should be open to independent voters?
Do you believe that the state party and the county parties should be allowed to endorse in primary elections?
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party auxiliary organizations should have a vote on the Maryland Republican Party executive committee?
Would you support limiting the terms of Maryland Republican Party officers to eight consecutive years in the same office?
