Why are you running for office?
I want to make positive change in PG County and MGA. Too long been one party rule; seeking common sense government, less taxes, improved Schools, assist Veterans
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
President Reagan, President Trump, President Bush; less taxes, not afraid to address the tough and dangerous issues, stood for right for all Americans – not just one group
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Sun Tzu, On War – because they challenge you to think strategically.
What will be your top priority in the General Assembly?
Providing the right policies for our schools (especially in PG county), Less taxes, Veterans retirement income exemption, mental health policies that are common sense.
What is the biggest issue facing your district?
Schools – past poor performances, corruption (liquor board, and Delegate indicted), opioid crisis
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland?
less taxes, better schools,
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
pro-life, no assisted suicide, defund planned parenthood for abortions
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Less taxes, less spending on frivolous programs, less spending on illegal immigrants
What is your position on gun rights?
support 2nd amendment, BUT, less automatic weapons, better back ground checks, keep guns out of the hands of any known felon, or mental heath problem
What is your position on education?
Our system is failing kids, we are not competitive, better policies of enforcing security in schools, taking problem students (after defined) out of mainstream
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?
No legalization of marijuana; ok for absolute medical use (however not proven)
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol?
It seems outdated, and needs to be reconsidered.
Legislators can receive $101 per day for lodging and $47 per day for meals during the 90-day General Assembly session. If elected, do you plan to accept these benefits? Why or why not?
I plan to use sparingly – since I live 1hr 10 minutes away (in traffic) – I may use the benefit during high volume days. But, for the most part – will travel home, if and only if – time permits. Late night events – would be difficult and unsafe – I assume.
There is a culture of depravity and sexual harassment prevalent in the Maryland General Assembly. As a legislator, how will you work to end this culture of depravity and to ensure that those who commit these acts are removed from the General Assembly?
I am aghast that this exist in today’s legislators, however, since I worked in the US Senate – I am not surprised. There is no room for any of this activities/behaviors. I was in the US Navy for 29 years – it was not tolerated by me as a Naval Officer, and would not be tolerated by me as a legislator. I would work across the aisle to pass meaning rules to expel any and all individuals that committed or permitted depravity/sexual harassment.
