Why are you running for office?
In order to serve the community and ensure quality candidates.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
Adel Eckardt because she is an honest, kind compassionate lady who fights the good fight for her people.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Congressional Procedures and the Policy Process by Walter Oleszak because it is updated, comprehension.
What do you see as the role of the Central Committee?
As a member of the Central Committee I see my role as providing the best candidate for the office for the community.
What is the biggest issue facing your county Republican Party?
Currently our party is facing a transition period with upheaval in Washington that filters down to the local level.
What are the three biggest issues facing the Maryland Republican Party?
Our biggest issue is getting our candidates re-elected to another term during a chaotic period politically. Secondly, we are facing separation of factions within our party and need to refocus and reunited. I see the third issue as one of regaining the trust and support of our constituents.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
These are extremely difficult issues for many. Having been in the healthcare setting for most of my career I cannot support assisted suicide or abortion.
What is your position on taxes and spending?
Taxes are a necessary part of life that helps provide needed services to the community. Spending needs to be accountable. Often times the person in charge of the budget does not see how much sacrifice has been made by the taxpayer and uses the funds without discrimination. This is just wrong, There needs to be accountability by all.
What is your position on gun rights?
Being an educator school shootings in particular have weight heavily on my heart. The current environment in which we all must be afraid to go to a movie theatre, a mall, a church or a school must be addressed quickly and effectively. However, people kill and not guns as is clearly evident in the mowing down of pedestrians with a vehicle.
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party primaries should be open to independent voters?
Do you believe that the state party and the county parties should be allowed to endorse in primary elections?
Do you believe that Maryland Republican Party auxiliary organizations should have a vote on the Maryland Republican Party executive committee?
Would you support limiting the terms of Maryland Republican Party officers to eight consecutive years in the same office?
