Why are you running for office?
Because Democrats have had a stranglehold over Maryland politics for far too long. We need more Republicans in office in all levels of government.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?
My father because he was a good man.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?
Ronald Reagan, A Life In Letters. I think Pres. Reagan was the greatest President in my lifetime and the book gave incredible insight into his fundamental beliefs and positions on the top issues facing us at the time. The problems we faced back then are not that different than what we are facing now.
What will be your top priority in Congress?
Fighting corruption and supporting conservative principles in Congress.
What is the biggest issue facing your district?
What are the three biggest issues facing our country?
Corruption, the economy, and jobs.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)
I am pro-life.
What is your position on taxes, spending and the federal deficit?
Taxpayers need tax relief, the government needs to control spending, and lower the deficit. Republicans have proven their tax plan works but we are still being saddled with programs started by Democrats that have bloated the government labor rolls. We have to reduce the size of government and apply the savings to the debt we owe. I also support President Trump’s Tariff position on steel and aluminum imports but would say that to improve it, it should cover more products.
What is your position on gun rights?
I am a constitutionalist, so I believe that gun rights should be strengthened.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?
I will support the federal law on it. If presented with a vote to legalize it, at that level, I would defer to the voters of Maryland and find out what they want. I believe that it is an alternative to opioids for the treatment of chronic pain, but what is popular in other states may not be the popular choice for Maryland. I would consult with my constituents on it.
What is your position on trade?
As mentioned, I support all efforts to correct trade imbalances with any countries where it exists and I consider that a national security issue, as well.
What is your position on foreign policy and military issues?
I support the “Make America Great Again” agenda and believe the United States should come first. Without a strong America, our allies are made weaker. We need to strengthen our military and our relations with our allies.
Would you support the passage of the Human Life Amendment?
Would you support the passage of the Balanced Budget Amendment?
