BREAKING: Chelsea Manning to run for US Senate in Maryland

Red Maryland has learned that convicted traitor Chelsea Manning has taken steps to challenge Senator Ben Cardin in the Democratic primary in Maryland this year.

According to Federal Election Commission filings, Manning filed her initial paperwork with the FEC on Thursday, January 11th.

Manning also filed paperwork with the Secretary of the Senate at 3:02 PM on January 11th. A copy of that document can be found at this link.

Manning will still need to file paperwork with the Maryland State Board of Elections before officially appearing on the ballot as a candidate.

Manning was convicted of violations of the Espionage Act for leaking sensitive documents to Wikileaks. After conviction Manning, who was known as Bradley Manning at time of the conviction, transitioned to become a woman. Manning ultimately settled in Bethesda last year after being released from prison.
