Afzali Copies Delauter’s Mistake

In an email sent to supporters, Delegate Kathy Afzali made the same mistake one of her competitors recently committed.

The email, which highlighted her announcement and her subsequent endorsement by Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh and Delegate Kathy Szeliga, and shared other news about her campaign, lacked an authority line.

This is the exact same error that Kirby Delauter made last week when he launched an attack site aimed at Szeliga, but also failed to include the authority line. The Delauter Campaign added the authority line only after the story ran last week here at Red Maryland.

Both Afzali and Delauter have run for office multiple times before. This kind of amateur hour stuff is not the kind of thing that is going to be an incumbent Democratic County Executive in what’s rapidly becoming a political competitive county. And while this is Afzali’s first unforced error of the campaign (as compared to the multitude of own goals Delauter has scored on himself) it certainly is not beneficial to her cause.

Both campaigns have to do a lot better.
