Longtime Republican activist and Gus Alzona is preparing to run for Congress according to reports in Montgomery County.
The sign, above, was spotted at the Montgomery County Republican Central Committee booth at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair today in Gaithersburg.
I’ve reached out to Alzona to confirm that he is running as well as to confirm what district that he is running in.

Alzona has run for office a number of times before. Most recently he ran for Congress in the 8th District in 2012, finishing 4th in the primary . He also sought the Republican nomination for Comptroller in 2002, getting 42.3% of the vote statewide, and the Republican nomination for Congress in the 8th District in 2006.
UPDATE: Alzona writes that he is considering a run in either District 6 or District 8:
“Again exploring a run for either CD 8 or 6. I reside just over a mile from the CD 6 border and most of loyal supporters live there as well!”
