At Prince George’s Stadium on July 24th, It’ll Be Hogan vs. Hogan
Choosing between Larry Hogan and Anthony Brown during the November 2014 Gubernatorial Election may have been an easy decision, but what if you had to choose between Larry Hogan and, well, Larry Hogan?
For some at Prince George’s Stadium on July 24th, they’ll need to decide just that.
As part of the Bowie Baysox effort to spread awareness for lymphoma, the Team will be providing two give away options of Larry Hogan bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans who enter the gates. One bobblehead shows the Governor with hair, while the other shows him as completely bald, as he was during his cancer treatment.
While some bobbleheads do not seem to look like the actual individuals for whom they were created after, the Hogan bobbleheads show a strong–nearly identical–resemblance to the Governor (Heck, the Los Angeles Lakers tried to perfect a Kobe Bryant bobblehead three times, and failed at every attempt!).
Governor Hogan announced in June 2015, just a few months after taking office, that he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. In November of that same year, he announced that scans showed no sign of cancer and that the disease was in remission.
While fighting cancer, Governor Hogan personally connected with several of his fellow cancer patients and became a strong advocate for those facing the disease, even receiving a blessing from Pope Francis on behalf of all cancer patients during the Papal Visit to the United States last year.
Governor Hogan is also scheduled to participate in ceremories at the July 24th game, in which the Bowie Baysox–with their players wearing lime green jerseys in support of those battling Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma–will face the Erie Seawolves.
The Baysox jerseys will be auctioned off during the game to help raise funds for cancer charities.
Which Hogan bobblehead will I choose? I’ve already made up my mind, but you’ll just have to wait and see!
Tickets to the game can be purchased through the Bowie Baysox website.
