L’affaire Reichart Returns

Last month we rported on the decision of Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Patrick Cavanaugh to reinstate Nelson Reichart. Reichart was fired, some months short of retirement, by the O’Malley administration for being too white, too Republican, and too truthful.

Now the same judge has reversed his order to reinstate Reichart.

This is disappointing but the reinstatement seems to have been made on procedural rather than substantive grounds and that ruling may be reinstituted at a later date. Regardless, the decision that Reichart was wrongfully dismissed stands and provides I high obstacle for the state to overcome in appealing this case.
