Two quick hits.
O’Gov’s tortured us of the word “consensus” is so bad that the word has lost all meaning.
After calling for a October 29 special session, O’Gov is on his way to Ireland. The current wisdom is that O’Malley does not have the votes for his tax/slots plan. Given the huge political risk, one would think O’Malley would stay local to work the legislators who oppose him in order to achieve a “consensus,” before the special session begins.
Maybe O’Malley already has the votes, and the run-up to the special session is all political theater ginned up to burnish his image as a “leader.”
We have seen this sleight-of-hand trick before in Baltimore.
