Governor Hogan leads Fundraising Race

Governor Larry Hogan far outpaced his rivals in fundraising during 2017.

In a memo obtained by Red Maryland, Governor Hogan’s campaign will report having raised $4.85 million during the 2017 reporting cycle. Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford raised an additional $584,000, meaning the campaign raised $5.4 million total in 2017.

The money raised in 2017 brings the Hogan campaign to a grand total $9 million cash-on-hand. That number will blow away the cash-on-hand available to any of the Democratic candidates at this stage in the race, and likely will eclipse the amount of cash-on-hand all Democratic candidates have combined.

As the memo from campaign chairman Tom Kelson says: “With public polling putting your approval at 71 percent, and with a $9 million bank account, we could not ask to be in a stronger position entering 2018.”
