Democrats have long been looking for a left-wing challenger to Peter Franchot, angry that Comptroller Franchot has worked collaboratively with Governor Larry Hogan to deal with the fiscal crisis created by Governor Martin O’Malley and Democratic Leadership in the Maryland General Assembly.

McIntosh represents District 43 in the General Assembly and has been a Delegate since 1992. She’s Chaired the Appropriations Committee since 2015. Prior to that she served as Chair of the Environmental Matters committee. She’s raised suspicions before for her crony capitalism in Annapolis, for drumming up clients for her consulting business including then Governor O’Malley, as well as for being a federal lobbyist; all while serving as a legislator in Annapolis. Red Maryland has covered her sordid history, including taking consulting money from fellow legislators in Annapolis.

No other Democrats have publicly hinted at challenging Franchot in 2018.
