MD DREAM Act Law Firm Cashed in on O’Malley’s Pro Slots Campaign

Sandler Reiff, Young and Lamb, the law firm representing Casa de Maryland in its lawsuit against the Maryland State Board of Elections to throw out the successful anti-Dream Act petition, provided legal counsel to O’Malley’s pro slots referendum committee For Maryland For Our Future. The firm is headed by former DNC counsel, and counsel to state Democratic parties and progressive advocacy groups Joseph Sandler. See more about Sandler here.

Chaired by O’Malley’s then head of the Maryland Stadium Authority, Fred Puddester, For Maryland for Our Future paid Sandler Reiff Young & Lamb $55,000 according to Maryland campaign finance records.
Campaign finance data also shows that Puddester’s For Maryland for Our Future co-chair, George Rakis, steered nearly $150,000 of the committee’ss money to Independent Strategies, the Silver Spring-based political consulting firm in which he just happens to be a partner.
But that is a story for another day.
Puddester also served as chairman of Maryland’s Health Services Cost Commission–the folks who will implement O’Malley’s $264 million healthcare tax hike— and budget secretary to former governor Parris Glendenning.
